You cannot perform at high, levels of excellence, without taking time to refresh, to recharge, and, as Steven Covey once said, ‘sharpen the saw.’ Another thing that you cannot do is serve well on ’empty’, either. We all must from time to time step away from our busy lives to do this. If you are a believer and follower of Christ, He modeled this for us. Scripture tells us that He regularly sought solitude where He connected with God, communed with Him, and recharged. We too must build that habit. There is value and significance in mirroring Jesus’ example in this area. Guard your priorities so they are not overrun by less important and foolish things. Do not fill the emptiness with cravings or things of no eternal value. These things will never satisfy us. We will constantly feel ‘on empty’ or even overwhelmed with attempts to fill God’s place with worldly things that won’t last.
