I know what you’re going to say – dumb question right? But I’ve learned that what we commit our time and money to is what we value. Its what’s most important to us. So if I were to look at your credit card and bank statements, if I were to look at your diary or schedule and calendar… what would it tell me? If I were to ask your family and friends, what would THEY tell me is most important to YOU?
When I have looked at what I felt were my most successful years, what do you think I did the most? That’s right – it was to intentionally build and nurture relationships not my bank account or wealth. When I say I was intentional, or deliberate, did it on purpose, I don’t mean that it was particularly hard. What I mean was I prioritized it because it is important to me. I make it matter. I make my hours count toward something that delivers a huge ROI.
So have you thought at all about leaving a legacy? We don’t you know. But we should. We have a very precious few years on this earth as we know it. You want to make the most of them, right? Stop and think about it for a moment – what would you want to leave? For me, its about my grandchildren’s grandchildren knowing my name, knowing what I stood for. What is it for you?
We’re heading into a new year. I’m not a fan of ‘New Years Resolutions.’ But I am keen on focusing on what’s important as I go into a new year. Focusing on what I’ve read called the ‘big rocks’ if you’ve ever seen the Stephen Covey demo – focused on them, planning to accomplish the things that’ll return the most on my investment of time.
So here are a couple of things to think about before Christmas. First, I wrote the book called “Can You Relate?” And a 90-day daily devotional under the same brand. Buy one for you, and one for a friend. $10/book, $5/devotional. Buy one book or devotional, get the 2nd one of the same type for 50% off. Plus shipping. FYI, the books are in pretty short supply. I won’t be ordering another print run until next year. So if you’d like one or more, let me know asap please.
The second thing is for you specifically on the topic of legacy. Its about living on purpose, making your life here on earth count. Its about being more than a ‘place holder’ and then you die. I’m forming a spiritual master mind group of 8 like-minded people who want to, once and for all, change the way they look at, and live, life. And do it with some help – not go it alone. So contact me through my web site www.donaldschin.com for any of the above.
And just one last thing – when people reach the end of life, they rarely start looking at their bank account and how wealthy they are. They typically reach out to people – family and friends. They don’t want to have their death bed surrounded by money but by people. Think about it…
