Christmas has become for many of us, a chaotic, crazy, materialistic, activity based season and holiday. But it should really be about the Person not the activity. We need to make space for Him, to hear His whispers. To be STILL. Prayer and meditation time is important all year long. Why don’t we begin the habit this Christmas week, and carry it into the new year? Slow down; make space (calendar, time, mind); focus on the Person Jesus; listen for His Peace. For me, its in the morning. The house is quiet as I’m typically up before others or in another part of the house. It is when my mind is clearest, free from the distractions and world and business. This is when I want to give my best, as Oswald Chambers says, my UTMOST for His Highest, for Him, for His Glory. Nighttime is good too. While I’m not as disciplined about this one, it is a good time. Again, house has settled in for the night. Its quiet. I like to use it to quiet my mind for sleep. So I read some more scripture, clear my mind visually, check in with God to see if I’ve pleased Him today, and pray for a good night’s sleep.
