What’s your focus: the here and now or eternity? The world is screaming at you to get instant gratification. Do it for YOU, YOU have earned it… It tells you that winning that argument, making this traffic light, getting ahead at whatever the cost, satisfying some immediate desire for money or thrills or sex, is SO important.

If you’re a follower of Jesus, THIS is not your home. You’re just passing through! Things HERE are not important. NOTHING you see here, NOTHING you have, can be taken with you into the afterlife. NOTHING! So why would we spend so much time, worry so much, over these things? I encourage you to be present but do not live for now; do not live for the ‘treasures’ of this world.

All that we do is meant to have a connection to God. We are to live with a view of eternity. Good thing we have help! The Bible is to be our guide. It is a big-picture book for big-picture living. Jesus also sent the Holy Spirit to replace Him when He departed this world. Let’s be thankful that we have a God who grants us grace, too. When we stray, this grace rescues us from self and a lack of an eternal focus.
